Miscellaneous Ramblings & News

Ah, those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are past, at least for me. I can't say that this summer was particularly exciting in terms of weather. For those of you who attended my wedding, you'll recall that June was quite chilly, even for a city as far north as Edmonton. If you missed the wedding, you also missed the chilly temperatures that accompanied it and stayed with me through most of July.

Nevertheless, being married is a rather exciting thing, which is why I start off this, the first of a series of intended monthly letters for the Gazette, with the announcement that Chatter and I were happily wed on June 25th of this year after a one year engagement. Thanks to everyone who send congratulatory notes or messages to me.

I've just spent the last two entire work days doing work on my own personal web site and on the web site for the games. On the games side, the design hasn't changed but I've updated the news section and changed a pile of pointers that didn't work, and set up a new mailing list for us. I'll be continuing to work on editing the various game FAQs which still have some outdated links and don't accurately reflect the locations of some of the gaming bots. Check out this work in progress at our new address of http://games.eingang.org/.

With respect to my own personal site, I haven't changed the design there either, but I did update my books list on my "About Me" page and updated the entries on my "About Me" page. I also finally managed to find time to edit and publish the last Micha Tale that Chatter (Stephen Dodd) provided to me almost a year and a half ago. Check that out in the Micha Tales section. My own personal page has moved to http://www.eingang.org.

Note also that there are a pile of new mailing addresses:

categories@eingang.org to submit Chaos/Risky Business categories by mail.
eingang@eingang.org to send Eingang mail.
subscribe@eingang.org to subscribe to the mailing list (see instructions)
unsubscribe@eingang.org to unsubscribe from the mailing list (see instructions)

I've just sent up a brand new mailing list as our old one was lost when we "moved" off of GalaxyNet. To subscribe to the new mailing list (and nobody's on it from the old list), send an e-mail to subscribe@eingang.org with the subject header of "SUBSCRIBE IRCGAMES your_email@address". To unsubscribe, send an e-mail to unsubscribe@eingang.org with the subject header of "UNSUBSCRIBE IRCGAMES your_email@address". Or you can just use our handy dandy form at http://games.eingang.org/maillist.html to subscribe or unsubscribe.

Chatter and I are in the process of preparing for our big move to Europe. This time we'll be based out of Brighton, England. We should have already been gone and been enjoying our bicycling honeymoon but we're still waiting for our visas to work/live in England to be approved by the British High Commission in Ottawa. Our current earliest departure date is October 24th. I have a sneaky suspicion that we're never really going to leave Canada; the Fates are conspiring against us!

I have a secret to confess: I am now slightly less of an Eingang than I used to be. I've been having abdominal pains for the last year and they rather intensified in August to the point that I visited the local emergency room twice within 3 days. On the second of those visits, I was in such pain that they had to give me two shots of morphine and then one of demoral before I could stop flailing my body about. On the plus side, they figured out what was wrong with me: gall stones. In the middle of August, I went in for surgery and now I'm minus one gall-stone-producing gall bladder. I've recovered very well and I'm hoping that the welts go away. (Not much chance, probably. Heh).

Until next month, I remain...
